This recipe quickly became a weeknight favorite in my house because it's delicious and comes together fast.

Ingredients

  • Beef: 350 g (12 oz) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • Marinade: 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp cornstarch 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Noodles: 300 g (10 oz) fresh or dried lo mein noodles
  • Vegetables: 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced 1 cup broccoli florets 1 medium carrot, julienned 3 green onions, sliced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • Stir-Fry Sauce: 3 tbsp soy sauce 2 tbsp oyster sauce 1 tbsp hoisin sauce 1 tsp sugar 2 tbsp water 1 tsp cornstarch
  • For Cooking: 2 tbsp vegetable oil Optional: sesame seeds and extra green onions for garnish

Instructions

Step 1:
In a bowl, toss the beef with soy sauce cornstarch and sesame oil. Marinate for 10 minutes while you prep other ingredients.
Step 2:
Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Step 3:
In a small bowl, whisk together all stir-fry sauce ingredients until smooth.
Step 4:
Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 1 2 minutes until just browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 5:
Add the remaining oil to the pan. Stir-fry garlic ginger bell pepper broccoli and carrot for 2 3 minutes until crisp-tender.
Step 6:
Return the beef to the pan add the cooked noodles and green onions and pour in the sauce. Toss everything together over high heat for 2 3 minutes until well coated and heated through.
Step 7:
Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and extra green onions if desired.
